Owen-Thummel
Cisley Carol Owen, Lawrence, and Robert Joseph Thummel Jr., Roeland Park, were married April 15, 2000, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Lawrence, with the Rev. Charles Gilmore officiating.
The bride is the daughter of Dr. Garry and Carol Owen, Lawrence, and the granddaughter of Margaret Freeman, Lawrence.
The groom is the son of Robert Sr. and Cheri Thummel, Beloit, and the grandson of Carman Thummel, Downs, and Millie Bieker, Sharon Springs.
The matron of honor was Sarah Bourgeois. The best man was Chad Thummel. Bridesmaids were Connie Owen, Susan Henderson, Amy Suiter and Keri Kish. Groomsmen were Jeremy Lewis, Jeff Banman, Daniel Owen and Rod Bourgeois.
The bride's personal attendant was Robin Wilson.
A reception was held at the Lawrence Country Club. The couple took a honeymoon trip to Cancun, Mexico.
The bride graduated from Lawrence High School in 1991. She received a bachelor's degree in English from Kansas University in 1995. She is a member of the Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority. She is a Web-based training development manager for Sprint PCS.
The groom graduated from Beloit High School in 1990. He received a bachelor's degree in accounting in 1994 and a master's degree in accountancy in 1995 from Kansas State University. He is a certified public accountant. He is pursuing an MBA at KU. He is an assistant controller at KLT Inc., a subsidiary of Kansas City Power and Light.
The couple reside in Olathe.
Harrell-Young
Kenna Harrell and Richard Young, both of Roeland Park, were married Sept. 30, 2000, at Lakeview Lodge, Lawrence, with Jackie Steward officiating.
The bride is the daughter of Forrest "Tex" and Linda Harrell, Lawrence. The groom is the son of Carol Allred, Lake Mary, Fla., and Steve Young, Overland Park.
Robin Palmer was matron of honor, and Jennifer Harrell was maid of honor. The best man was Steve Young.
Barbara Stauffer was the bridesmaid. Chris Young and David Palmer were groomsmen.
Madison Palmer was flower girl. Micah Clark was junior groomsman. Ushers were Vaughn Good and Andrew Agakhan-Embiricos.
A reception was held at Lakeview Lodge.
The bride is a 1990 Lawrence High School graduate. She works as a massage therapist and esthetician at Beauty Brands in Olathe and is a diving coach for St. Thomas Aquinas High School, Overland Park.
The groom is a 1988 graduate of Seminole Community College in Sanford, Fla., and a 1997 graduate of Johnson County Community College. He is a paramedic for Emergency Providers Inc., Kansas City, Mo.
The couple reside in Roeland Park.
