Spring cleaning at Lawrence's wastewater treatment plant, 1400 E. Eighth St., has been exuding a malodorous scent lately, but officials say the smell should blow away by the end of the weekend.
As part of a free recycling program to area farmers, each year the plant cleans out storage areas, allowing farmers to transport waste material to their fields.
City officials say they're working on preventing the stink from returning in future years.
