Army Pvt. Dennis Moore has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Tex.
During the six weeks of training, Moore studied the Air Force mission, organization and customs, and received special training in human relations.
In addition, airmen who complete basic training earn credits toward an associate's degree through the Community College of the Air Force.
He is the son of Samuel and Melissa Moore, DeSoto.
Matthew Patterson has joined the U.S. Army under the delayed entry program.
The program gives young men and women the opportunity to delay entering active duty for up to one year.
Patterson, a 1998 Lawrence High School graduate, will report to Fort Benning, Columbus, Ga., for basic training.
He is the son of Conie Puckett, Baldwin, and Michael Patterson, Lawrence.
