Indiana chorale to sing at Methodist church
The Taylor University Concert Chorale, under the direction of JoAnn Rediger, will perform at 6 p.m. Sunday at Lawrence Free Methodist Church, 3001 Lawrence Ave.
The 56-member ensemble from Upland, Ind., will perform "Sing to the Lord" arranged by Alice Parker; "Give Me Jesus" by L.L. Fleming; "Gaudette" arranged by J. David Moore; and "How Can I Keep From Singing," arranged by Z. Randall Stroope.
The chorale has performed throughout the United States and in Great Britain, Austria, Italy, Germany, Scandinavia and Russia.
The concert is free and open to the public.
Retreat offered for Catholic men
Kansas City, Kan. Men Under Construction, a retreat for Catholic men, will be March 31 in the Savior Pastoral Center in Kansas City, Kan. This year's theme is "Developing Your Blueprint for Life."
Jesse Romero, a former Los Angeles deputy sheriff and competitor in boxing, martial arts and other contact sports, will speak at 9:15 a.m. and 3 p.m.
Five breakout sessions will be offered and Sharayah, a Topeka musical group, will perform. A celebration of the Eucharist will be offered at 4 p.m.
Cost is $30 per person. High school and college students can register for $15 a person.

Church to broadcast leadership seminar
Tecumseh Highland Heights Christian Church, 2930 S.E. 29th St., will be a simulcast site for a seminar led by John C. Maxwell, author of "Developing the Leader Within You" and "The 21 Irrefutable Laws of Leadership."
The seminar, from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday, will be broadcast to more than 1,200 churches. Registration is at 7 a.m.

Friends Church to serve dinners
Lawrence Evangelical Friends Church, 1601 N.H., will have a spaghetti-and-meatball dinner from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the church. A freewill offering will be taken.
FUMC presents Taize services
First United Methodist Church, 946 Vt., will offer Taize services from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesdays through April 4.
The service involves music, silence and candle or incense burning.
Choir to present 'Evensong' concert
St. Gregory Choir of St. Michael's and All Angels parish of Mission will be the guest choir for "Choral Evensong" at 5 p.m. Sunday at Trinity Episcopal Church, 1011 Vt.
"Evensong" will be preceded by a recital by Kenneth Walker, organist and choirmaster. The recital begins at 4:45 p.m. A reception will be held after the service.
The service and recital are free and open to the public.
Chili supper, auction benefit scholarship fund
Lecompton Wee Blessings Play School Inc., an outreach ministry of Lecompton United Methodist Church, will have its annual spring chili supper and auction Thursday at the Community Building. Dinner is at 5 p.m. and bidding begins at 6 p.m.

St. John's offers final ReMembering session
The last of the ReMembering Church Lenten series, "Walking a Difficult Way," will be 7 p.m. Wednesday in the parish hall at St. John the Evangelist Church, 1234 Ky. Jeff Miller of the Victims-Offenders Reconciliation Program will present "Making Peace," a talk about the process of reconciliation.
The church will have a parish recollection evening from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Monday at the church. The event will provide an opportunity and structure for reflecting on scripture passages.

Conference focuses on Eastern Bloc
The annual Mustard Seed Christian Fellowship Mission Conference will be Sunday and April 1 at the church, 700 Wakarusa Drive. The emphasis will be on Romania and the Eastern Bloc countries.
Shawn Bullock, of Just Believe World Outreach, will talk at the April 1 morning service. His wife, Annie, will perform with the dance team. Other activities include a drama, special music and sharing by several other missionaries.
Resurrection Run sets date, needs volunteers
The Second Annual Resurrection Run will be April 7, beginning at Sunflower School, 2621 Inverness Drive. Registration is at 7:30 a.m.
The 5K run/walk commemorates the journey that Mary, Peter and John made to and from the empty tomb of Jesus on Resurrection Day.
Entry forms are available at churches, fitness/community centers, sports stores and Christian Book and Gift.

Speaker offers freedom ministry
The Rev. Tom Bevard, a chaplain from Iola, will share information about Freedom Ministries of Kansas at 6:30 p.m. Sunday at Clinton Parkway Assembly of God, 3200 Clinton Parkway. The program offers ministry to people in Kansas prisons and jails.
Bevard has been asked to visit every state-operated prison in Kansas and will present more than 50 services this summer.
MLK Youth Choir meeting at church
The Martin Luther King Jr. Youth Choir will meet at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at Calvary Church of God in Christ, 646 Ala. Any youths who would like to participate are welcome.
The choir will sing at 2 p.m. April 1 at the Langston Hughes School dedication.

Rural Pomona church offers children's classes
Michigan Valley Community Church, on the blacktop northeast of the Pomona Lake dam, will offer Kreative Kids Club from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday.
The classes, which emphasize arts and crafts, are for children ages 5 and older and are open to the public. They are offered the fourth Saturday of each month.

Weekly support group caters to fathers
Dad's Time, a weekly educational and support group for fathers, will have its first session from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. April 10 at Trinity Episcopal Church, 1011 Vt. Topics will include healthy relationships, effective communication, traditions, culture and identity, and child development.
