Haines City Fla. Carlos Beltran hit his fourth home run of the spring and Mike Sweeney went 3-for-3 as the Kansas City Royals topped the Toronto Blue Jays 7-4 Tuesday.
There was a frightening moment in the bottom of the eighth when Dee Brown hit a line drive off the forehead of Blue Jays left-hander Pedro Borbon. The force of the hit knocked down Borbon, but he staggered to his feet and left under his own power.
Beltran broke a 4-4 tie by leading off the seventh with a home run off Kevin Beirne. Sweeney and Beltran also had RBI singles in the third inning.
Jason Grimsley, the fourth Royals pitcher, allowed just one single in two innings to pick up his first victory. Tony Cogan worked a perfect ninth to earn his second save.
Carlos Delgado homered off Royals reliever Doug Henry in the fifth inning.
Ryan Thompson had three hits for the Blue Jays, including a run-scoring double in a three-run fourth inning off Jose Santiago.
