Graveside services for Homer G. French, 92, Eudora, will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Memorial Park Cemetery, Lawrence.
Mr. French died Monday, March 19, 2001, at Eudora Nursing Center.
He was born June 2, 1908, in Pauline, the son of Jake and Alpha Retta (Glen) French. He was raised in Eudora and graduated from Eudora High School. He moved back to Eudora in the late 1990s from Stockton.
Mr. French served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a mechanic and owned a Sinclair station in North Lawrence. He also owned a restaurant in North Lawrence and a service station in DeSoto, and worked as a carpenter in Eudora. For a number of years, he worked following the fruit harvest.
Survivors include three sons, Delbert and Bud, both of Lawrence, and Homer L., Canyon City, Colo.; a sister, Madge Torneden, Baldwin; 18 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
Two daughters, Doris Maninger and Carol Spillman, died earlier.
Friends may call from noon to 9 p.m. today at Warren-McElwain Mortuary.
The family suggests memorials to Eudora Nursing Center, and they may be sent in care of the mortuary.
