St. Joseph, Mo. Services for Carl A. Lanham, 74, St. Joseph, will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Heaton-Bowman-Smith & Sidenfaden Chapel, St. Joseph. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, St. Joseph, with military services by the American Legion Post No. 359.
Mr. Lanham died Sunday, March 18, 2001, at a St. Joseph hospital.
He was born July 20, 1926, in St. Joseph. He attended Lafayette High School and Missouri Western State College in St. Joseph, and lived in Lawrence, Kan., before moving back to St. Joseph.
Mr. Lanham served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He retired as an accountant with Quaker Oats. He had also worked for Gray Automotive and Russell Stovers. He was a member and business manager of First Baptist Church, St. Joseph, where he also served as deacon and in other positions.
He was a member of American Legion Post No. 359 and was a volunteer at United Cerebral Palsy and Power Reading Program, all in St. Joseph.
He married Betty L. Stewart on Sept. 12, 1947, in St. Joseph. She died June 22, 1997. A daughter also died earlier.
Survivors include two daughters, Connie Zatorski and Pam Yurkovich, both of St. Joseph; two sisters, Clematis Randall, St. Joseph, and Dorothy Teague, Irvine, Calif.; a brother, Thomas, Paducah, Ky.; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. today at the chapel.
The family suggests memorials to United Cerebral Palsy or American Cancer Society, and they may be sent in care of the chapel, 3609 Frederick Blvd., St. Joseph, Mo. 64506.
