Raleigh, N.C. Carisse Moody had 22 points and nine rebounds to help fourth-seeded N.C. State advance to the third round for the 10th time. Tynesha Lewis added 21 points for N.C. State (22-10). Courtney Mix led Villanova (22-9) with 15 points. North Carolina State will face the winner of tonight's game between top-seeded Connecticut and Colorado State on Saturday in Pittsburgh.
Mideast Regional
Tennessee 92, St. Mary's 75
Knoxville, Tenn. Kara Lawson led five players in double digits with 17 points as top-seeded Tennessee beat ninth-seeded St. Mary's. Michelle Snow added 16 points, and Ashley Robinson had 15 to help Tennessee (31-2) improve to 38-0 in NCAA Tournament play in its home arena. The Vols will face Xavier on Saturday in the regional semifinals in Birmingham, Ala. Jermisha Dosty led St. Mary's (26-6) with 18 points.
Xavier 77, Clemson 62
Cincinnati Nicole Levandusky scored 19 points as Xavier (30-2) beat Clemson for its 20th straight victory. Chrissy Floyd had 24 points for Clemson (21-10).
Texas Tech 73, Virginia Tech 52
Lubbock, Texas Plenette Pierson scored a career-high 28 points as Texas Tech overcame a slow start to beat Virginia Tech. Texas Tech (25-6) advanced to the round of 16 for the third straight year. The second-seeded Raiders will play the Purdue-LSU winner on Saturday in Birmingham, Ala. Tere Williams had 17 points for Virginia Tech (21-9).
Purdue 73, LSU 70
West Lafayette, Ind. Katie Douglas scored 21 points as third-seeded Purdue held off sixth-seeded Louisiana State. Purdue (28-6) advanced to the final 16 for the fifth time in eight years. Marie Ferdinand had 34 points for LSU (20-11).
Midwest Regional
Iowa State 85, Florida State 70
Ames, Iowa Angie Wells scored 26 points to help Iowa State reach the final 16 for the third straight year. Megan Taylor made five three-pointers and added 22 points in her final home game for ISU (27-5). Iowa State, which tied the school record for victories, will face the winner of tonight's Vanderbilt-Colorado game Saturday in Denver. Katelyn Vujas led Florida State (19-12) with 15 points.
West Regional
Washington 86, Florida 75
Gainesville, Fla. Freshman Giuliana Mendiola scored 18 points as sixth-seeded Washington (21-9) victory over third-seeded Florida (24-6).
