Pitino sets deadline for Louisville decision

Louisville doesn't have much longer to wait to find out if Rick Pitino is coming to town.

"I'm going to tell Louisville on Wednesday," Pitino said Saturday.

Pitino will provide analysis for CBS during the Midwest Regional's second round games in Dayton, Ohio, today. After that, he will go to Boston to discuss the situation with his wife and five children.

Louisville athletics director Tom Jurich has said the former Kentucky and Boston Celtics coach was the only candidate to fill the vacancy left by retired Hall of Fame coach Denny Crum.

Michigan athletics director Bill Martin said he's interested in talking to Pitino about his school's vacancy.

Knight meets with students at Texas Tech

Lubbock, Texas Bob Knight met Saturday with Texas Tech students who will be asked for input on whether he will be hired by the school.

According to the students, the fired Indiana coach talked about making sure players graduate, building interest in the basketball program and offering lessons both on basketball and on life.

Knight wrapped up three days in Lubbock on Saturday, including sitting down again with Tech president David Schmidly and athletics director Gerald Myers.

The only basketball player at Saturday's meeting, junior Andy Ellis, said he had no reservations about Knight.
