Donna Stucky has joined Infomark Research Inc., Topeka, as marketing director.
Stucky, Lawrence, was vice president and co-owner of R&D Publications Inc. and has 20 years of experience in sales and marketing.
Infomark Research conducts research surveys, public-opinion polls and other projects for business organizations.
Rebecca Spriggs, Lawrence, recently completed the Principles of Real Estate class conducted by the Kansas Association of Realtors in Topeka. She also passed the real estate exam to obtain her license.
She is a licensed agent with TeamOne Real Estate, 5200 W. 15th St., Suite 201.
Spriggs previously was senior manager of corporate marketing and sales for Golf Course Superintendents Association of America, Lawrence. She is a Kansas University graduate.
Dawn Gaschler has been promoted to store manager at Dillons, 1740 Mass. Gaschler, who has been with the company since 1988, previously was assistant store manager at a Dillons in Leavenworth.
Angela Bateman, Lawrence, has joined Lawrence Otolaryngology Associates, 1112 W. Sixth St., as a clinical audiologist. She provides hearing evaluations, diagnostic testing and hearing aid consultations.
Bateman has worked as an audiologist in the area for three years.
She earned a bachelor's degree and a master's degree from Kansas University.
Tom Jennings, owner of Bud Jennings Carpet One in Lawrence, recently became chairman of the Board of Directors for the Better Business Bureau serving northeast Kansas.
The bureau is committed to promoting and fostering ethical relationships between businesses and the public.
The Lawrence area has seven other business representatives on the board: Jo Buzzard, Jo M. Sara Johnson, Baldwin, is a new junior member of the American Angus Assn.
Junior members are eligible to register cattle with the association and participate in association-sponsored shows. The association is the world's largest beef-registry organization with more than 35,000 active members.
Judith Waldman has joined the hospitals section of Children's Mercy Hospitals and Clinics, Kansas City, Mo.
She previously worked for Kaiser Permanente in Kansas City. She completed her pediatric residency at the Kansas University Medical Center.
Other physicians who have joined Children's Mercy are Sarah Ward, Linda Cooley, Andrew Lasky, Lisa Horton Lowe and Jon Rast.
Alex Grecian and Linda Kunkle Park have joined Jones Seel Huyett, a marketing communications company in Topeka.
Grecian, graphic designer/illustrator, has more than 12 years of experience as a free-lance illustrator. He is a Kansas University graduate.
Kunkle Park, graphic designer, has nearly 15 years of industry-related experience.
Several educators from the Lawrence area attended the third annual Kansas Regional Reading Recovery Conference at Emporia State University.
Reading Recovery classes provide "at-risk" first-graders with literacy experiences to help them build a foundation for successful learning in the classroom.

The Farm Inc. announced its promotions of Mike Patrick and Steve Solomon.
Patrick is senior vice president and chief operations officer. He previously was chief information officer and headed the Information Management Division. He continues his role with IMD and will assume responsibility for foster care and family permanency programs.
Solomon is senior vice president of mental health and public policy. His responsibilities include oversight of existing mental health programs and development and implementation of new services. He has been with The Farm Inc. since 1999.
The Farm Inc. is a mental health and social service agency with corporate offices in Emporia and more than two dozen office locations in Kansas, including one in Lawrence at 910 W. 24th St.
Humana Health Plans of Kansas City, Mo., has named John Wiesler vice president of commercial sales for the company's Kansas City market.
Wiesler, who has been with the Humana subsidiary for 13 years, oversees group sales activities. He previously was director of commercial sales for Humana/ChoiceCare in Ohio.
Honors and awards
Dave Mattern, investment representative for Edward Jones in Lawrence, was one of 40 company representatives honored during a business management forum in St. Louis.
Mattern was recognized for his business management skills, the company said.
He also met with other Edward Jones investment representatives to share ideas for increasing office efficiency, improving client service, boosting investment knowledge and expanding his knowledge in the areas of retirement and estate planning.
Wichita State University's Center for Entrepreneurship has been ranked by Success magazine as one of the top 50 schools for entrepreneurship in the country.
Schools were judged on a number of criteria, including caliber of candidates, community outreach, reputation among fellow schools, faculty, support for students and innovation.
Bernardo Cruz, group consultant for Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas, recently was honored for his sales performance in 2000, when he worked in the Lawrence district office.
Cruz achieved 102 percent of his health insurance goal during the year. He also met 176 percent of his dental insurance goal and 109 percent of his life insurance goal. Those achievements qualified him for membership in the company's Distinguished Sales Achievement Club.
Cruz currently works from the Wichita regional marketing office.

The Kansas University Strategic Center will conduct a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 11:30 a.m. April 11 at the center, 211 E. Eighth St., Suite C.
The nonprofit organization provides tutoring services for learners of all ages and academic needs.
Members of the center's staff are Lisa Walsh, coordinator of youth services; Rose Foster, administrative coordinator; Nancy Hettwer, administrative coordinator; Brad Nelson and Aaron Sumner, coordinators of technology; and Mike Hock, coordinator of research and development.
The center is open from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday.

The Kansas Angus Assn. will sponsor the 15th annual Angus Influence Commercial Female Sale.
The sale will begin at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 4, at JC Livestock Co. in Junction City.
It will feature open and bred heifers as well as young and extra-fancy cow-calf pairs. Females will be consigned in minimum lots of five head, with all females 6 years of age or younger.

The Mid-America Manufacturing Technology Center will present a seminar called "How to Perform Value Stream Mapping to Identify and Eliminate Waste" on Wednesday, April 11.
The seminar will be from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at MAMTC's Kansas City office, 1575 N. Universal Ave., Suite 130, Lakeside Plaza I.
The seminar will teach participants how to uncover hidden waste and eliminate its sources through value stream mapping.

Washburn University is offering "Fundamentals of Human Resource Management" for professionals with employee and management responsibilities.
The new five-week course is designed for supervisors and entry-level human resource professionals who have the responsibility for hiring, training and evaluating employees.
The course will be from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. March 27-April 24 in Henderson Center 208 on Washburn University's campus. The fee is $350 and includes materials provided by the Society for Human Resource Management. Paula Roberts, of Human Resources Consulting in Topeka, will be the instructor.
