Jupiter, Fla. Jim Edmonds and Mark McGwire, who homered in the same game nine times last season, both connected in St. Louis' 10-5 victory over Kansas City on Friday.
"I hope we can do it about 100 more times," Edmonds said after the Cardinals' sixth straight win.
Edmonds, who had been batting .200, hit a three-run first-inning shot off Dan Reichert. The opposite-field homer was his second of the spring.
He entered the game with six RBIs, all coming in the same game March 6 game against Houston.
"I'm usually hitting .600 and it doesn't matter," Edmonds said. "It is kind of different, though. It's weird to go up there feeling so good and not be able to do the right thing."
McGwire's two-run homer in the fourth off Jose Santiago was his third homer of the spring. It also gave the Cardinals a 7-5 lead.
Three times last season, Edmonds and McGwire homered in consecutive at-bats.
Matt Morris of the Cardinals gave up three runs on six hits in three innings and Dan Reichert of the Royals allowed three runs on five hits in three innings.
"There's always one bad pitch you want to have back, it's either a home run or ball four," Reichert said. "Edmonds is a great hitter and if you throw a fastball down the middle he's not going to make a mistake and ground out, he's going to hit a home run."
Morris gave up five singles in the Royals' three-run third, with Mike Sweeney, Mark Quinn and Luis Alicea driving in a run apiece.
"I had in mind what I wanted to do and just didn't execute," Morris said. "I need quick outs and I need to go deeper into games with 60-pitch counts."
Jermaine Dye had a two-run single off Mike Cather in the fourth.
