And then there were two.
The Big 12 Conference, which crowed about getting half its membership in the NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament, saw four of its six representatives bounced in the opening round.
Perhaps the most stunning ouster came Thursday, when Big 12 regular-season champion Iowa State seeded second in the West Regional lost to 14th-seeded Hampton, 58-57.
Also on Thursday, Oklahoma State fell to Southern Cal, 69-54.
Missouri, the only Big 12 team to survive opening day, downed Georgia, 70-68.
On Friday, more Big 12 teams fell out of the NCAA bracket.
Oklahoma, the Big 12 postseason tournament champion seeded fourth in the South Regional, was edged by 13th-seeded Indiana State, 70-68, in overtime.
"When you get here you better play well," OU coach Kelvin Sampson said. "Indiana State did. We didn't."
Earlier Friday, Texas was embarrassed by Temple, 79-65.
Kansas beat Cal State Northridge, 99-75, lifting the Big 12's opening-round record to 2-4.
Missouri will face Duke at 12:10 p.m. today. KU will face Syracuse at 11:10 a.m. Sunday.
