Washington The Rev. Ian Paisley, a Protestant known for making anti-Catholic remarks, will try to persuade President George W. Bush to oppose the Northern Ireland peace accords today when he visits the White House.
"He's going to put the president straight on what the situation is," said St. Clair McAllister, communications director for Paisley's Democratic Unionist Party. "The anti-agreement Unionists are the majority in Northern Ireland," McAllister said.
Paisley said he also intends to argue against fund-raising in the United States by the Sinn Fein party, the political ally of the Irish Republican Army.
