A weather system that brought heavy rain and flash flood warnings Thursday morning to Lawrence is expected to change over to snow and blowing snow Thursday evening.
The National Weather Service has posted a winter weather advisory through midnight Thursday for the Lawrence area.
Jamie Warriner, 6News meteorologist, predicted the snow should start falling by early evening Thursday, with some slushy accumulations expected by 9 p.m. to 10 p.m.
Total snow accumulations for the Lawrence area are expected up to two inches, with north winds 25 to 35 mph diminishing to 15 to 25 mph after midnight.
Warriner said the snow should melt off by Friday, with highs expected in the lower to middle 40s.
Dry weather is expected through Monday. Saturday's temperatures are expected to climb to a high of 40 to 45. The highs could climb to the mid-50s on Sunday and Monday.
