St. Paul, Minn. Keith Tkachuk's debut with St. Louis came during the Blues' worst offensive night of the season.
The Blues won out with a 1-0 overtime victory Wednesday night over the expansion Minnesota Wild.
Scott Young snapped a scoreless tie with 1:51 left in overtime, giving the Blues the win despite recording a season-low 15 shots.
Young blasted a long-range shot that beat goalie Jamie McLennan.
"By the time it was on me, it was by me," McLennan said. "I think he shot it through the defenseman. He's got a great shot, so if you don't see it, you don't have a chance."
Brent Johnson had 21 saves for his fourth shutout of the season, as St. Louis snapped a seven-game winless streak. The Blues managed just one shot on goal in the third period and two in overtime.
"We just didn't have much zip," coach Joel Quenneville said. "Our puck control just wasn't there like it has been."
Tkachuk, acquired Tuesday in a trade with the Phoenix Coyotes, took two shots for the Blues in his first game with the team.
