Services for Herbert Marvin Simpson, 62, Lawrence, will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at First Regular Missionary Baptist Church. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery.
Mr. Simpson died Monday, March 12, 2001, at his home.
He was born July 3, 1938, in Lawrence, the son of Ernest Simpson and Evelyn (Walker) Kimball. He moved to Lawrence in 1998 from Chicago.
Mr. Simpson served in the U.S. Air Force, and worked as a civil engineer for the city of Chicago for more than 30 years. He was a member of AFL-CIO, Chicago; Teamsters Union, Minneapolis, Minn.; and AARP.
He married Fredericka J. Reasby on April 22, 1961, in Minneapolis, Minn. She survives of the home.
Other survivors include a daughter, Paris Dionne Davis, Chicago; his mother, Evelyn Kimball, Lawrence; four sisters, Clara Friend, Topeka, Joyce Johnson, Palm Springs, Calif., Frieda Green and Carolyn Kimball, both of Lawrence; a brother, Carroll "Bo" Kimball, Lawrence; and two grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Friday at Warren-McElwain Mortuary.
They suggest memorial contributions to Douglas County Visiting Nurses Assn. or Hospice Care of Douglas County, sent in care of the mortuary.
