Sarah ‘Bernice’ Day

— Services for Sarah "Bernice" Day, 97, Ottawa, will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Dengel & Son Mortuary, Ottawa. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery, Ottawa.

Mrs. Day died Sunday, March 11, 2001, at Village Manor Nursing Home, Ottawa.

She was born Aug. 16, 1903, in Hartford, the daughter of Willis B. and Fanny (Smith) Graves. She moved to Ottawa in 1921.

Mrs. Day was a homemaker and had co-owned Day's Repair & Sports Shop from 1945 to 1963. She was a member of North Baptist Church, Ottawa, and the Ottawa Assembly No. 136 Social Order of the Beauceant.

She married Lawrence H. Day on Aug. 17, 1921, in Ottawa. He died Dec. 26, 1975.

Survivors include a son, Larry Day, Salina; two daughters, Maxine Chapman, Lawrence, and Beverly Priest, Kansas City, Kan.; nine grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

A great-grandchild died earlier.

Friends may call after 9 a.m. today and until service time Wednesday at the mortuary.

The family suggests memorials to North Baptist Church or Trinity United Methodist Church, and they may be sent in care of the mortuary.
