Chad Roesler is the new investment representative for Edward Jones' Lawrence branch office at 1800 E. 23rd St.
He previously was an account executive with Hotz Business Solutions in Lawrence. He graduated from Kansas University in 1996.
Roesler replaces the position held by Aaron Alexander, who accepted a job with the investment firm's headquarters in St. Louis.
Ann Hammond has joined Coordinated Systems & Supplies as sales service assistant.
She previously was employed at Lawrence Memorial Hospital's Kreider Rehabilitation Center.

Robin Harmon has been promoted to district sales manager of KB Toys' new 10-store Topeka district.
Harmon has been with KB Toys for four years. She previously was district training store manager of the Kansas City district. She also has served as store manager of the KB Toy Outlet in Lawrence and KB Toys of Topeka in the Westridge Mall.
Skyler Fairchild has become a shareholder in SS&C Business & Tax Services Inc.
Fairchild, vice president of the insurance group, will be responsible for directing the firm's professional staff in audit and review engagements for clients in the insurance industry.
Fairchild supplies a quarterly column to the property and casualty trade association magazine. He joined the company in 1997 as a staff accountant.

Mike Matney has been promoted to manager trainee at Dillons, 4701 W. Sixth St. He previously was produce manager at a Dillons in Topeka. He joined the company in 1992.
Kansas City, Mo.-based Birch Telecom Inc. has promoted Lynne Sangimino and Robert Moretti to oversee the company's expansion.
Sangimino, vice president for the Central region, will oversee Birch's sales efforts in several states, including Kansas. She previously was general manager for Birch's efforts in Topeka; Kansas City, Mo.; and St. Joseph, Mo.
Moretti, vice president of sales for the Southeast region, will be responsible for managing Birch's rollout and growth in several southeastern states. He previously was division general manager for Birch in Dallas.
Birch is a competitive local exchange carrier that serves 31 markets in Georgia, Kansas, Missouri, Oklahoma, Tennessee and Texas.
Alissa Overall has been named branch manager of Commerce Bank's Sixth Street Dillons Banking Center, 3000 W. Sixth St. She is responsible for managing the office's employees, attracting new prospects and promoting products and services.
She previously was a senior financial services representative at the 23rd Street Dillons location, 1015 W. 23rd St. She is pursuing a business administration degree at Kansas University.
Terry Cavanaugh, Lawrence, has joined Warren-McElwain Mortuary as an apprentice funeral director and embalmer.
He has been a part-time employee at the mortuary since 1999. He received a degree in mortuary science in 2000 from Kansas City Kansas Community College. He also has a business administration degree from Washburn University.
Cavanaugh is a third-generation funeral director. His grandfather Matthew Brennan founded the Brennan Funeral Home in Topeka.
Lisa Stuhlman, an auditor at Douglas County Bank, recently completed the 2001 Bank Compliance School in Lawrence.
The school is designed to provide students with information regarding all federal regulations covered in an on-site compliance examination by federal regulatory agencies. The school is sponsored by the Kansas Bankers Assn. and the Nebraska Bankers Assn.
Honors and awards
Peggy Johnson, a financial adviser with the Lawrence office of American Financial Advisors, was honored with the President's Recognition Award.
The award recognizes advisers who have made quality advice a priority in their practice and document their written advice in a way that is clear, specific, thorough and objective.
Johnson was selected as recipient of the award by her peers.
FryeAllen Inc., a Topeka-based advertising and marketing firm, received 22 awards at the 2000-2001 Kansas Ad Astra ADDY Awards Competition.
The competition is designed to recognize creative excellence in advertising.
The firm received Best of Show Radio for a 30-second radio commercial written and produced for Washburn University. FryeAllen also received eight top ADDY awards and 13 Citations of Excellence.
FryeAllen Digital Inc. won two Citation of Excellence awards.
FryeAllen Films Inc. won an ADDY award and a Citation of Excellence for an ad created for LouZeana's Bayou Grill of Lawrence.
Jeffrey Frye, a Lutheran Brotherhood district representative in Lawrence, recently was recognized for his service to local Lutheran Brotherhood members by qualifying for membership in the organization's 2000 Top Club.
The Top Club is reserved for district representatives who are successful in helping their clients link faith, values and finances.
Lutheran Brotherhood provides financial guidance to about 1.2 million members. Lutheran Brotherhood and its affiliated companies manage about $27 billion in assets.
Lawrence resident Kelly Howell won a contest conducted by M-PACT Worldwide Inc. to reward employees who had perfect work attendance between Sept. 14, 2000, and Jan. 14, 2001.
Howell won an all-expenses-paid, one-week trip to Mexico City and Acapulco. Howell's name was chosen randomly from a pool of 52 employees who qualified for the drawing.
While on the trip, Howell visited M-PACT's Mexican business partner, Degasa S.V.
Eudora-based M-PACT is a manufacturer of medical devices.
David Parkinson, a junior at Lawrence High School, is the winner of the International Business Plan Competition sponsored by the International Business Resource Connection at Kansas University's Center for International Business Education and Research.
Parkinson's entry was among those produced by student teams. All of the plans were based on e-commerce and involved international trade.
The plans were judged by a panel of KU faculty and graduate students.
Parkinson's plan won him $1,000 in seed money and mentoring from KU faculty and MBA students at the IBRC. He also will have access to the IBRC's computer hardware and the latest e-commerce software.
The IBRC will use Parkinson as a case study in a tutorial Web site being created to teach other high school students about international business.

A seminar about estate planning will begin at 12:15 p.m. Tuesday in the auditorium at Lawrence Memorial Hospital, 325 Maine. Lunch will be provided.
A panel of experts including Steve Edmonds of Robert W. Baird Co.; Harley Catlin of Edward Jones; Janis Bunker of The Trust Company of Kansas; and Chris Walker of Intrust Bank will discuss investment strategies for retirement planning.
This is the third of four seminars presented by LMH's Endowment Assn., Brandon Woods Retirement Community and Presbyterian Manor. The seminar is sponsored by Intrust Bank. The final seminar will be May 8.
