Gibard A southeast Kansas man was convicted Friday of murdering his father and two women at the home the two men shared.
Michael A. Bethel, 24, was found guilty of one count of capital murder and two counts of first-degree murder.
His father, John Andy Bethel, 49, and his father's girlfriend, Sherrill Davis, 50, were the first to be shot the morning of Feb. 7, 2000.
Then Waneta Boatright, who worked for Crawford County Hospital District No. 1, went to the home to see the grandmother, Alice Vestal, a stroke victim. Boatright, 50, of Arma, found that John Bethel and Davis had been shot and then was shot herself while making a 911 call.
Bethel allegedly pulled a gun on police officers when they arrived, but he was arrested without incident.
The Bethel men worked as general contractors in the Girard area near Pittsburg.
