Ima Knudsen

Winchester Services for Ima Alta Knudsen, 97, Winchester, will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Barnett Funeral Home, Oskaloosa. Burial will be in Winchester-Wise Cemetery.

Mrs. Knudsen died Thursday, March 8, 2001, at Cushing Memorial Hospital, Leavenworth.

She was born Sept. 17, 1903, in Belpre, the daughter of Victor A. and Viola Edna (Hager) Johnson. She moved to Winchester in 1945 from Kansas City, Kan.

Mrs. Knudsen served as a block warden in Kansas City, Kan., during World War II. She was then a homemaker and had worked as an aide for Jefferson County Memorial Hospital Annex and Laundry from 1958 to 1968. She also did volunteer mending at the hospital for many years.

She was a member of Jefferson County Memorial Hospital Auxiliary Unit and the Winchester Christian Church and Ladies Aid Society. She was a charter member of the American Legion Davis-Gibson Post No. 387 Auxiliary Unit, Winchester.

Mrs. Knudsen was formerly a member of Eastern Star and Rebekah Lodge, both of Kansas City, Kan.

She married Knud Christian Knudsen on Sept. 5, 1923, in Belpre. He died Feb. 27, 1966.

Survivors include two sons, Knud LeRoy Knudsen, Kansas City, Kan., and Robert H. Knudsen, Tonganoxie; a daughter, Imogene L. Reynolds, Winchester; seven grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.

A grandchild and a great-grandchild died earlier.

Friends may call after 1 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, where the family will receive them from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday.

The family suggests memorials to American Legion Davis-Gibson Post No. 387 Auxiliary Unit or an organization of the donor's choice, and they may be sent in care of the funeral home, P.O. Box 416, Oskaloosa 66066.
