McLouth Memorial services for James A. Eberhard Sr., 74, Springfield, Mo., will be at 1 p.m. today at Cherry Street Baptist Church, Springfield, Mo. Services also will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home. Burial will be in Hardy Oak Cemetery, McLouth.

Mr. Eberhard died Thursday, March 8, 2001, at his home.

He was born Dec. 28, 1926, in Lawrence. He graduated from Liberty Memorial High School in 1946.

Mr. Eberhard served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a groundskeeper for Kansas University in the 1960s and then drove a wrecker for Kaw Motors for eight years.

He then worked for Stokley Van Camp for 30 years and retired in 1985. He also had owned a salvage business for 30 years.

Mr. Eberhard was a member of Bible Baptist Church, Lawrence, and Cherry Street Baptist Church, Springfield, Mo. He served as a trustee for Bible Baptist Church for many years.

He married Peggy Joan Myer Oct. 15, 1961, in Lawrence. She died Feb. 7, 1979.

Survivors include a son, Jim, Springfield, Mo.; a daughter, Melody Nething, Jonesboro, Ga.; and 12 grandchildren.

Friends may call from noon to 9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, where the family will receive friends from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday.

The family suggests memorials to Camp Cherry Mountain or Bible Baptist Church, sent in care of the funeral home.
