Baylor may have upset Iowa State in the early game, but there will be no upset for Kansas. Led by Jeff Boschee and a stifling Jayhawk defense, KU had its way with the Wildcats in Kemper Arena. Jeff Boschee scored his 1,000th point, while going 5-for-6 from three point range, and ending with 23 points. Meanwhile, Kansas State has had trouble finding the basket, suffering through one drought of three minutes, and another of eight and a half.
The game was once as close as 12-11 in the first half. The two teams traded baskets before Kansas embarked on a 20-0 run that essentially ended the game early. Kansas took a 41-21 lead into halftime.
Kansas State was never in it after that. The closest they got in the second half was 14.
In addition to Boschee's 23 points, Drew Gooden scored 21 to go with his eight rebounds. Kirk Hinrich added twelve points. Kenny Gregory and Nick Collison each notched eleven.
