Colorado, Texas Tech advance

— Mandy Nightingale scored 18 points as No. 20 Colorado beat Missouri 83-72 Wednesday in the quarterfinals of the Big 12 Women's tournament.

Colorado (21-7) advanced to the semifinals for the first time since 1997. The Buffaloes will play No. 7 Oklahoma today.

Britt Hartshorn scored 17 points, Jenny Roulier 15, Linda Lappe 13 and Eisha Bohman 12 for CU. Marlena Williams scored 14 points and Evan Unrau and Natalie Bright each added 13 for MU (21-8).

The Buffaloes made 18 straight free throws in the second half to seal the win.

No. 11 Texas Tech 71, Texas 58

Jia Perkins scored 17 points as Texas Tech beat Texas in another quarterfinals game.

Texas Tech (23-5) advanced to the semifinals for the fourth straight year. The Raiders will play the winner of the Iowa State-Baylor quarterfinal today.

Planette Pierson added 15 points for Texas Tech. Katrisa O'Neil and Natalie Ritchie each had 10. Kaira White led Texas with 20 points. Tracy Cook scored 13 and Stacey Stephens 10.

The Raiders used an 8-0 run with 7:57 left to overcome a seven-point deficit and held Texas (20-12) to one field goal in the final eight minutes.

No. 13 Iowa State 73,

No. 24 Baylor 48

Kansas City, Mo. Tracy Gahan scored 20 points as third-seeded Iowa State (23-5) advanced to the semifinals for the fourth consecutive year.

Sixth-seeded Baylor (21-8) led 44-42 in the second half, but Angie Welle scored with 13:50 left to start a 12-0 run. The Cyclones held Baylor to one field goal in the final 13 minutes and a season-low 48 points.

Lindsey Wilson scored 18 and Welle had 10 points and 14 rebounds for Iowa State. Danielle Crockrom had 14 and Sheila Lambert had 12 for Baylor.
