SPRINGFIELD, MO. Southwest Missouri State's baseball team devoured Kansas, 11-4, on Tuesday afternoon.
The Bears improved to 5-4 on the season, while the Jayhawks fell to 7-7.
Kansas led 4-1 in the fifth inning, but allowed two runs in the six, two in the seventh and five in the eighth.
John Nelson had two hits in five at-bats.
Jayhawk seniors Doug Dreher and Brent Del Chiaro also had multiple-hit games.
Del Chiaro recorded his team-leading 14th RBI. Nelson added his team-leading 12th stolen base.
The Jayhawks' Chris Smart (0-1) was losing pitcher. Jeff Davis started and allowed two runs in four innings. KU, which has dropped two straight games, will meet Missouri at 6 p.m. Friday. Box on page 8C
