Raise the road

To the editor

In order to proceed with the construction of the Highway 10 bypass easterly from U.S. Highway 59 I suggest that a four-lane elevated road be built from approximately the Meseraull property over Louisiana Street, over the wetlands and sacred grounds, and over Haskell Avenue to a point somewhere between 29th and 31st streets.

From this point a regular road (four-lane) would continue and connect with K-10 east of Lawrence.

Such a plan would not impede traffic on Louisiana Street not Haskell Avenue and result in only minor damage to the land which Haskell and Baldwin wish to protect.

It is realized that this may be an expensive way to solve the problem but it should certainly maintain harmony with all parties concerned.
