Firefighters battle a fire at Total Fitness Athletic Center, 925 Iowa, about 1:30 a.m. Monday. Firefighters were still at the scene at 9:45 a.m. Monday.
Lawrence-Douglas County Fire & Medical investigators were trying to determine the cause of a fire that caused heavy damage early Monday morning to Total Fitness Athletic Center.
No one was injured in the fire, which was reported about 12:45 a.m. at the center, 925 Iowa, firefighters said.
Firefighters said the building was empty when they arrived. Firefighters worked on the blaze overnight and were still out at the site late Monday morning.
Scott Dougan, Total Fitness owner, said members can go to Sixth Street Fitness on a temporary basis.
