Uniontown Graveside Services for Ellen Irene Chandler Heckman, 87, Oskaloosa, will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Uniontown Cemetery, Uniontown.
Mrs. Heckman died Friday, March 2, 2001, at the Hickory Pointe Rehabilitation Center, Oskaloosa.
She was born Nov. 25, 1913, in Uniontown, the daughter of S.A. and Mable (Landers) Chandler. The family moved to Nebraska when she was 3 years old. They later returned to Uniontown, where she graduated from high school. The family then moved to Paola.
Mrs. Heckman was a homemaker. From 1960 to 1974, she worked as a nurse's aide at the Miami County Hospital in Paola.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Paola.
She moved to Oskaloosa in 1998.
She married Willie H. "Bill" Heckman on July 7, 1934, in Nevada, Mo. He died in 1972.
Survivors include a daughter, Sylvia J. Wray, Pittsburg; a son, Roger L. Heckman, Ozawkie; a sister, Ruth Kirker, Fort Scott; four grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.
A granddaughter died earlier.
The family will greet friends from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Tuesday at Wilson and Son Funeral Home, Paola.
The family suggests memorials to the Jefferson County Hospice, sent in care of the funeral home, 305 N. Pearl, Paola 66071.
