Hemphill, Tex. No services for John E. Kipfer, 79, Hemphill, are planned. Cremation has taken place.
Mr. Kipfer died Friday, March 2, 2001, at Greenwood County Hospital, Eureka, Kan.
He was born Sept. 29, 1921, in Madison, Kan., the son of Cecil William and Olive Ione (Clopton) Kipfer. He graduated from Madison High School and attended Kansas University.
Mr. Kipfer was a farmer and rancher for several years and then worked as a fireman for Santa Fe Railway. He worked for the Greenwood County Appraiser's Office in the mid-1960s and later became county appraiser. He also worked in Lyon and Elk counties.
He married Naomi Ruth McKinney on July 11, 1942, in Emporia, Kan. She died Feb. 15, 1997.
Survivors include two daughters, Betty Gilson, Eureka, Kan., and Margaret Curry, Lawrence, Kan., two sisters, Thelma Simon, Federal Way, Wash., and Olive Ann Vaughn, Powder Springs, Ga.; and four grandchildren.
