William Turner

— Services for William J. Turner, 77, Osawatomie, will be at 4 p.m. today at Bruce Funeral Home, Gardner. Inurnment will be at a later date in Highland Cemetery, Ottawa.

Mr. Turner died Sunday, Feb. 25, 2001, at Miami County Hospital, Paola.

He was born May 1, 1923, in Cummings, the son of Wilbur Charles and Unice (Lein) Turner. He moved to Osawatomie from Paola, where he had lived for 14 years. He had also lived in Gardner for 10 years and in Wellsville.

Mr. Turner served in the U.S. Army, and was a power plant operator for Kansas University Medical Center, Kansas City, Kan., for 22 years. He retired in 1991.

He married Frances Eugene Wilson Turner. They later divorced.

Survivors include a son, Ronald William, Peculiar, Mo.; a daughter, Linda Sue Ross, Edgerton; four brothers, Ted and Jim, both of Kansas City, Don, Lawrence, and Richard, Wellsville; three sisters, Betty Moon, Sacramento, Calif., Nancy Harris, Las Vegas, and Susie Stamps, Springdale, Ark.; 10 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

A stepdaughter, Patricia Ann Floyd Sellers, died earlier.

The family suggests memorials to William J. Turner Memorial Fund, and they may be sent in care of Bruce Funeral Home, P.O. Box 192, Gardner 66030.
