Sigourney, Iowa — Services for Gladys J. Bell, 82, Sigourney, Iowa, were Friday at Reynolds-Powell Funeral Chapel, Sigourney, Iowa. Burial was in Fairview Cemetery, Wellman, Iowa.
Mrs. Bell died Tuesday, Feb. 20, 2001, at Sigourney (Iowa) Care Center.
She was born Aug. 26, 1918, in Stone City, Iowa, the daughter of John and Olive (Potter) Sinkey. She graduated from Belle Plaine (Iowa) High School.
She and her husband farmed in the Millersburg and Wellman areas before moving to Sigourney in 1956. She then provided day care of area children, worked as an aide at Manor House Care Center and taught for several years at People's Place Preschool. She was a member of Sigourney Church of Christ.
She married George Edward Bell on Aug. 26, 1937, in Belle Plaine, Iowa. He preceded her in death.
Survivors include four daughters, Nancy Payne and Georgia Porter, both of Lawrence, Merry Avery, Perry, and Penny Melzarek, Apple Valley, Minn.; four sons, John Bell, Caledonia, Ohio, Russell Bell, Canyon Country, Calif., Lonnie Bell, Sigourney, Iowa, and George Bell, St. Paul, Minn; a sister, Betty Reggiani, Stockton, Calif.; 20 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren.
A grandchild died earlier.
