Time travel and dinosaurs that the men in the white lab coats have been tinkering with are the backbone of "Dino Crisis 2," the latest survival-horror game from Capcom, makers of the "Resident Evil" series.

Your mission is to find Dr. Kirk, the progenitor of a project created to give power-starved Earth a much-needed energy source, and find the details of his research to reverse what his project has through incredible negligence caused: the disappearance of an entire city in the Midwest.

The whole city has been replaced by a prehistoric jungle, and through this rift in time, dinosaurs have emerged threatening the existence of mankind.

So now it's up to you (as Regina, our hero from the first "Dino Crisis") and a crack team of militiamen, to rescue the survivors of this temporal disturbance, kill lots of lizards and save the world.

As with their "Resident Evil" series, Capcom pushes the PlayStation to its limit and comes out with some amazing graphics and sound particularly the sound. You hear the rustling as the velociraptors gather unseen in the bushes, and the effect is chilling. When you finally do see them, you'll be stunned at how quickly and gracefully they tear your guts out. Fortunately, player controls are equally effective and devastating.

Grade: A.
