WNBA Roundup: Stiles leads Fire over Fever

— Jackie Stiles scored 26 points, including two free throws with 31.6 seconds remaining, to lead Portland to a 68-65 victory over Indiana on Wednesday night.

Stiles made 10 of 12 field goals, including 3-of-4 from three-point range, as Portland (7-4) snapped a two-game losing skid by overcoming a second-half Fever rally. Sylvia Crawley added 12 points.

Rita Williams scored 17 of her 20 points in the second half to lead Indiana back from a 19-point deficit. Gordana Grubin scored 17 points and Kelly Schumacher had 12.

Portland used the outside shooting of Stiles and the inside play of 5-10 Sophia Witherspoon to build a 56-37 lead nine minutes into the second half.

But Williams hit two free throws, a three-point shot and a 15-footer on successive possessions to ignite a 28-8 rally over the next 10 minutes. She capped the Fevers' comeback by hitting two free throws for a 65-64 lead with 55.7 seconds remaining.

Stiles drew a foul and sank both free throws for a 66-65 lead with 31.6 seconds to play.

Comets 76, Mystics 63

Houston Tina Thompson scored 24 points as Houston beat Washington. Thompson was 10-for-20 from the field and grabbed a team-high eight rebounds. Janeth Arcain added 19 points, 13 in the first half, for the Comets (9-1). Chamique Holdsclaw led Washington (2-9) with 21 points.

Sting 74, Shock 50

Charlotte, N.C. Andrea Stinson scored 23 points and Dawn Staley added a season-high 11 assists as Charlotte ended its franchise-record seven-game losing streak. Allison Feaster scored 12 points for Charlotte, which improved to just 2-10.

Starzz 68, Sol 63 OT

Miami Margo Dydek scored a season-high 24 points and grabbed 11 rebounds as Utah handed Miami Sol its sixth loss in seven games.

Rockers 65, Miracle 41

Orlando, Fla. Cleveland built a 21-point first-half lead and cruised to over Orlando.
