Philip Hetherington obituary

Mr. Hetherington died Wednesday, June 27, 2001, at North Arkansas Regional Medical Center, Harrison.

He was born June 18, 1928, in Topeka, Kan., the son of Clarence H. and Clara Helen (Alexander) Hetherington.

He had lived in Newton, Kan., for 20 years.

Mr. Hetherington served in the U.S. Navy from May 1948 to June 1950. He worked for Union Pacific Railroad in Kansas, Colorado, Utah and Nebraska. He was a police officer for 27 years in Topeka, Kan. He retired to Hasty in 1982. He drove a Disabled American Veterans bus as a volunteer in Fayetteville. He was a member of First Christian Church, Harrison. He was a former member of First Christian Church, Overbrook, Kan., where he served as deacon, photographer and outreach co-chairman.

He married Louise McDysan Sept. 23, 1951. She survives of the home.

Other survivors include two sons, Gary, Perry, Kan., and Kevin, Fayetteville; a daughter, Jan Bolinger, Plano, Tex.; a sister, Muriel Faber, Bourg, La.; and five grandchildren.

A son, Gerald Wayne, died earlier.

Christeson Funeral Home, Harrison, is in charge of arrangements.
