A team of drivers from Wal-Mart Stores Ottawa Distribution Center won the grand champion trophy at the 2001 Blue Beacon-KMCA Professional Truck Driving Championships.
The contest, June 22 and 23 in Salina, challenged the skills of 100 professional Kansas truck drivers. To enter, drivers had to be accident-free at least 12 months prior to competing. Drivers competed in 10 classes.
Wal-Mart Stores Ottawa Distribution Center was one of 13 companies that entered three or more contestants for the team trophy.
The scores of the top three company finishers were combined to determine the team winner.
Wal-Mart Stores won the team trophy in 1999.
