Services for Mary Louise Bowers, 84, Lawrence, will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Warren-McElwain Mortuary. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery.
Mrs. Bowers died Tuesday, June 26, 2001, at Kansas University Medical Center in Kansas City, Kan.
She was born Dec. 9, 1916, in Junction City, the daughter of Charles and Eliza Matilda (Reed) Hardesty.
Mrs. Bowers was a homemaker. She operated a foster home for 17 years in Lawrence. She was a member of Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, AARP and a 50-year member of Dorsey-Liberty Post No. 14, American Legion Auxiliary.
She married Ivan C. Bowers on Dec. 22, 1958, in Oskaloosa. He died in 1973.
Survivors include a daughter, Catherine Born, Lawrence; a son, Blake D. Bowers, Fort Knox, Ky.; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. today at the mortuary.
The family suggests memorials to the American Diabetes Assn., sent in care of the mortuary.
