Mr. McCall's body was found Monday, June 25, 2001, after a small plane crash.

He was born July 12, 1944, in Tucumcari, N.M., the son of Joyce Francis and Helen (Schneier) McCall.

He was a teacher at U.S.D. 501 Kaw Area Technical School for 14 years. He had master's degrees from University of Missouri at Kansas City and Kansas University. He was a member of St. Theresa's Catholic Church and ErCoupe Club of America. He was a licensed pilot for more than 10 years.

He married Ruth C. Benz Register Dec. 28, 1986, in Lawrence. She survives of the home.

Other survivors include two brothers, Donald, Seattle, and Wayne Thomas, Los Angeles; two stepsons, Scott Register, Overland Park, and Ron Register, Jacksonville, Fla.; and six grandchildren.

The family suggests memorial donations to Catholic Charities, 2220 Central Ave., Kansas City, Kan. 66102; or Christian Foundation for Children & Aging, 1 Elmwood Ave., Kansas City, Kan. 66103.

Penwell-Gabel Midtown Funeral Home, Topeka, is in charge of arrangements.
