Today is the seventh annual National HIV Testing Day. People at risk for HIV infections are encouraged to be tested.
According to the national Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, as many as 40,000 new cases of HIV are transmitted each year in the United States. About one-third of people infected have never been tested and do not know they are HIV-positive.
