Willamette, Ore. Services for Raymond F. Hicks, 76, Gresham, were Saturday, June 16, 2001, at Lynchwood Church of God, Portland. Burial was in Willamette National Cemetery.
Mr. Hicks died June 12, 2001, in Gresham.
He was born May 27, 1925, in Lawrence, Kan., the son of Perry and Katherine (Carter) Hicks. He graduated from Liberty Memorial High School. He attended Kansas City University, studying for a law degree. He also attended Pacific Bible College and Portland State University, and graduated from Cascade College, Portland, with a bachelor's degree in psychology.
From 1943 to 1946, he served in the U.S. Army in Europe and took part in the Battle of the Bulge. In 1947, he returned to Lawrence and began working for Logan Moore Lumber Co. as a secretary and later as a manager. He later moved to California, where he worked as a milkman. In 1953, he moved to Gresham. He was a court counselor for juveniles for 27 years, retiring in 1984.
He was a member of Lynchwood Church of God, and was a third degree Mason.
He married Norma Winters June 6, 1944. She survives of the home.
Other survivors include a daughter, Pam Thomason, Lewiston, Idaho; two sons, Larry, Waterloo, Belgium, and Will, Washougal, Wash.; two sisters, Wilma Davis and Meldean Pearson, both of Lawrence; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
The family suggests memorials in his name to Lynchwood Church of God building fund or Kaiser Hospice, sent in care of Bateman Carroll Funeral Chapel, 520 W. Powell Blvd., Gresham, Ore. 97030.
