Baton Rouge, La. Josh Maravich will play basketball for LSU, where his father was one of the most dazzling players in the history of the college game.
The 6-foot-3 youngster will join the team as a freshman walk-on and play at an arena named for his father.
Pete Maravich, the NCAA career scoring leader, led the nation in scoring from 1968-70. He died of heart failure in 1988.
"I've always wanted to come here since I was a kid, regardless of my last name," said Maravich, whose older brother is a walk-on at McNeese State.
"It doesn't have anything to do with my dad coming here. I'm not doing this to prove something. He did leave some big shoes to fill, though."
