The fund-raiser benefits the parish, the Lawrence Catholic School-St. John Campus, a college scholarship for a Hispanic student in Lawrence and other community charities.
In addition to homemade Mexican foods, the fiesta features live music, dancing, confetti eggs and carnival games.
This year's event is dedicated to the memory of Lisa Bland, a longtime parish member and fiesta volunteer who was killed last fall in an automobile accident on Kansas Highway 10.
On Friday, tamales, burritos and tacos will be sold. On Saturday, participants also can buy enchiladas, tostadas, refried beans and rice. Hot dogs, sodas and beer will be available.
