Alberta Vann

Services for Alberta P. Vann, 81, Lawrence, will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery.

Mrs. Vann died Friday, June 8, 2001, at Kansas University Medical Center.

She was born Nov. 25, 1919, in Mound City, the daughter of George B. Sr. and Eva Mae (Davis) Bonner. She grew up in Mound City and moved to Lawrence in 1943. She was a homemaker.

She married Olaf Vann on Sept. 11, 1936, in Mound City. He preceded her in death.

Survivors include two daughters, Rose Marie Armstrong and Joya Homes-Syed, both of Lawrence; a brother, Daniel Bonner, Omaha, Neb.; two sisters, Anna Houston, Milwaukee, Wis., and Ruth McDuff, Duluth, Minn.; and six grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandson.

A son, Olen Laverne Vann, preceded her in death.

Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, where the family will receive friends from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.

The family suggests memorials to the Calvary Church of God in Christ, sent in care of the funeral home.
