Oskaloosa — Services for Beverly Ruth Rhodes, 65, rural McLouth, will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Oskaloosa First United Methodist Church. Burial will be at Pleasant View Cemetery, Oskaloosa.
Mrs. Rhodes died Sunday, June 10, 2001, in Oskaloosa after a short illness.
She was born March 25, 1936, in McLouth, the daughter of Victor and Dorothy (McHenry) Edmonds. She lived in the McLouth and Oskaloosa area most of her life, graduating from Oskaloosa High School in 1954 and attending Kansas State and Washburn universities.
For 30 years, Mrs. Rhodes was a clerk for the Finley Abstract Co., Oskaloosa. She was also a homemaker and bookkeeper for Rhodes Farms in rural McLouth since 1956. The Kansas Chamber of Commerce named her a "Master Farm Homemaker" in 1989.
Mrs. Rhodes was a member of Oskaloosa First United Methodist Church and served as the organist for 45 years and choir director for many years. She was a member of Jefferson County Historical Society and was active in the building of Old Jefferson Town in Oskaloosa.
She married William K. Rhodes on Aug. 11, 1956, in Oskaloosa. He survives of the home.
Other survivors include her father, Victor Edmonds, Oskaloosa; stepmother, Mary Alderson Edmonds, Blue Springs, Mo.; a son Christopher Rhodes, McLouth; a daughter, Leah Crull, Roscoe, Ill.; a brother, Gary Edmonds, Gunnison, Co.; a stepbrother, Lyle Alderson, Blue Springs, Mo.; and four grandchildren.
Friends may call after 10 a.m. Tuesday at Barnett Funeral Home, Oskaloosa, where the family will meet friends from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday.
