Hartsooks capture walleye tournament

David Hartsook of Marysville and Keith Hartsook of Herkimer combined to win the $1,000 first prize in last weekend's Governor's Cup Walleye Tournament at Glen Elder Lake.

Ron Erhard of Wellsville and his partner, Kevin Johnson of Kansas City, caught the largest walleye on the second day a 6.7-pounder and won $200.

Benjamins 16th

Jerry Benjamin and Jason Benjamin, both of Lawrence, teamed to catch seven largemouth bass that weighed 16.23 pounds and finished 16th at the Ozawkie Marine Bass Classic last weekend at Truman Lake in Missouri.

Saathoffs take title

Shawn Saathoff and Justin Saathoff of Lawrence finished first in the junior bass division of the Like Father, Like Son fishing tournament last Saturday at Cedar Bluff Lake. Justin Saathoff also caught the day's biggest bass, a 5.18 pounder. Sid Gonce of Lawrence and his grandson Kevin Coleman finished third in the panfish division.

Beckwith, Crai second

Lynn Beckwith of Ozawkie and Joe Crai of Topeka teamed to catch 10 crappie that weighed 10.55 pounds and garnered second place at the Crappie U.S.A. regional tournament at Grand Lake, Okla., on June 2. Steve Cross of Carbondale and Doc Simmons of Overbrook caught 10 crappie that weighed nine pounds and finished in sixth place.
