Kansas City, Mo. Vanguard Airlines Inc. has reversed plans to add service between Kansas City and Reno, Nev., saying the company never received promised incentives.
But officials at Reno-Tahoe International Airport said the move appears to be more the result of Vanguard's ongoing competition with Frontier Airlines, which is adding a route in Reno.
Vanguard announced last month that it would add once-a-day nonstop service to Kansas City from Reno, with a same-plane connection to Atlanta, beginning Aug. 12.
But on Friday, Vanguard said it was postponing those plans. Instead, the Kansas City-based airline said it would offer additional service to Atlanta and Denver starting Aug. 12
