United Way of Douglas County Inc., is accepting applications for grants through the "Venture Fund Program" from nonprofit human service agencies in Douglas County.
Completed preliminary applications are due in the United Way of Douglas County office by 5 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 22. Finalists will be selected and invited to submit full application proposals, due Oct. 4.
The program will have $11,000 to allocate. All funds are used to address human service needs in Douglas County. No funding limits have been established, but projects are generally supported with grants from $500 to $5,000.
The program was established in 1998. During the past two years, 13 area agencies have received grants to assist things such as start-up costs, special initiatives and system building efforts.
