Take children along when traveling abroad

Having children usually means taking a vacation from traveling abroad. But Fodor's Travel Publications has released the first international editions of the "Around the City With Kids" series.

The new books ($11) are guides to cities including London, Paris and Toronto. They are written by local experts, who offer ideas for an entire family to enjoy a trip abroad. Listings include admission prices and age-appropriateness of restaurants and sites.

The books also contain "flip art" and game ideas for children so they don't get bored.

Caribbean trips made easier

Summer heat makes it hard to think about heat-seeking Caribbean vacations, but good news for vacationers came recently when US Airways announced it would add nonstop service this winter from Philadelphia to St. Lucia and to Barbados.

Barbados and St. Lucia are both in the eastern Caribbean and, except for charter flights, have usually required at least one change of planes to reach from Philadelphia.

The St. Lucia Tourist Board can be reached at (800) 456-3984; www.stlucia.org. The Barbados Tourism Authority can be reached at (800) 221-9831; http://barbados.org.
