7-30 Lions Sight Fair offers free vision, hearing and diabetes

The Lions Sight Fair will be from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday at the Douglas County Free Fair.

The Kansas Lions Mobile Screening Unit will offer free vision, hearing and diabetes tests.

The Lawrence Lions Club and Lawrence River City Lions Club, both service organizations are co-sponsoring the tests.

Journal-World reporter honored

Scott Rothschild, a reporter for the Lawrence Journal-World, will receive an award from the Kansas Disability Caucus.

Rothschild will be honored for newspaper articles he has written concerning funding issues for in-home services for people with disabilities.

The award will be presented when the disability caucus has its seventh annual forum in Topeka from Aug. 8-10. The forum provides an opportunity for Kansans with disabilities to talk about issues and suggest solutions to challenges facing the disabled.
