Mailbox vandalism under investigation
Douglas County Sheriff's officers are investigating several incidents of vandalism to rural mailboxes.
The most recent incidents occurred sometime Friday to three mailboxes in the 2200 section of North 100 Road, a sheriff's report said. Damage is thought to have been caused by someone throwing a brick at the mailboxes. Bricks have been found near the damaged boxes.
One week earlier, three mailboxes were reported damaged at the following locations: the 500 section of East 1700 Road, 500 section of East 2100 Road, and the 300 section of East 1100 Road.
Bricks were found near those mailboxes also, sheriff's reports said. Damage has ranged from $25 to $110.
Despite the similarities, sheriff's officers say they can't confirm that the same person is responsible for all the incidents.

Company reports possible e-mail theft
Lawrence Police are investigating a possible computer crime involving the theft of e-mail messages at Prairie Graphics, 641 E. 22nd St.
Representatives from the company contacted police Wednesday after they noticed that they had been receiving fewer e-mails than usual over the past several weeks, a police report said.
Investigators think a former employee may be intercepting e-mails, police spokesman Sgt. Mark Warren said. The e-mails contained information from other businesses about art work and product pricing, Warren said.
No arrests have been made. Once all information is compiled, it will be turned over to the Douglas County District Attorney's office to determine what kind of charges might be filed.
