2nd Watkins assailant sentenced

July 24, 2001

— A man convicted for being the lookout in the stabbing death of a Kansas University graduate during an $8 robbery was sentenced Monday to 15 years to life in prison.

Felix Rodriguez, 21, was found guilty of second-degree murder last month for the 1999 stabbing death of Amy Watkins, 26, who moved to New York to pursue her master's degree in social work.

Watkins, originally from Topeka, was an intern who counseled children and battered women.

Last month, David Jamison, 28, was sentenced to 25 years to life in prison after his conviction on charges he plunged a kitchen knife into Watkins' back during the robbery.
