Memorial services for Carol May Wrench, 91, Lawrence, are pending. Private inurnment will be at a later date at Woodlawn Cemetery, Pomona. She donated her body to Kansas University Medical Center.
Mrs. Wrench died Thursday, July 19, 2001, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.
She was born Nov. 27, 1909, in Appanoose, the daughter of Orrin E. and Ethel Lea (Glenn) Dick. She attended Ottawa public schools and graduated form Ottawa University in 1930. She earned a master's degree in library science in 1966 from Emporia State University. She taught at various Kansas high schools and was a librarian at Baker University until retiring in 1975.
Mrs. Wrench was a member of Lawrence's First United Methodist Church, Baldwin Business and Professional Women, American Association of University Women, Baker University Faculty Club, American Association of University Professors, Douglas County Retired Teachers Assn., Kansas Retired Teachers Assn., National Retired Teachers Assn. and Lawrence Autumn Club.
She married Otis Wrench on May 12, 1934. He died in 1977. A son, Don Wrench, also died earlier.
Survivors include a daughter, Barbara Murphy, Lawrence; a son, Richard Wrench, Montgomery, Texas; six grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
The family suggests memorials to the Lawrence Public Library, American Diabetes Assn., Lawrence Visiting Nurses Assn. or First United Methodist Church.
